TLC advances aging-in-place initiatives for residents thanks to generous grants

Through these residential enhancements, TLC is furthering its mission to foster a sense of independence and dignity for all its residents as they age

Aging-in-place is a luxury for many and a choice that TLC wanted to make sure was available to our residents. Thanks to recent grants from The Powder Mill Foundation and the J. William Warehime Foundation, TLC is embarking on the improvement of several residential locations.

We’re updating kitchens and installing ADA-compliant tubs and showers. We also make sure that many of our residents live in homes with limited stairs and that our staff our trained on how to make the homes as safe and comfortable as possible.

The planned upgrades mean those we serve won’t have to live in a nursing home or care facility, giving them not only more cost-effective housing options but a higher quality of life and greater sense of independence. We anticipate these updates will be completed by summer 2024.

“These initiatives give TLC an opportunity to provide better care,” says Sandy Chilton, Executive Director of TLC. “Living a typical life means being able to stay in your home without worry. We’re grateful for the support of our community to make this possible.”
