History
Typical Life Corporation was founded on a progressive, innovative approach to service individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). As a 501©3 nonprofit, TLC supports individuals in a person-centered approach in both York and Adams Counties.
- Founded in 1999 by two long time industry employees, TLC set out to be the leading residential supports organization in helping individuals lead active and fulfilling lives in their own communities.
- As the needs of the community grew, TLC opened York Images day program in 2002, focusing on healthy bodies and healthy choices , followed by Emigsville ‘The Abbey Factor’ which focused on vocational programs in 2012.
- Through opportunities and collaboration with government agencies, TLC’s residential program grew from a single house in 1999 to over 30 homes in 2023.
- Our original location still provides residential support to an individual today, over 20 years later.
- In 2023, our two day options programs merged to ensure a people-centered program.
